REGISTRATION INFORMATION

To help address enrolment growth, George H. Luck has a lottery process for new students enroling for the 2025–26 school year. This only impacts new resident* students living in the designated attendance area who wish to enrol in a grade that does not have space in planned classes. Students who are currently enroled at George H. Luck or who wish to enrol in a grade with space in planned classes are not impacted.

*A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

New student registration began on February 3, 2025. Families of children entering Kindergarten to Grade 6 can visit new student registration to register for the 2025–26 school year.

To register, your child must be a resident student which means that at least one parent or legal guardian lives in Edmonton and is not Roman Catholic. Two pieces of proof of address are required. Please note that we cannot accept registrations with future possession/move in dates.

Due to the lottery process (see below) and the number of inquiries we receive, we do not host an open house in the spring or offer individual tours. If you have questions about our school or the registration process, please email us at georgehluck@epsb.ca.

LOTTERY PROCESS ONCE PRE-ENROLMENT CLOSES

George H. Luck School uses a lottery process to help address enrolment growth and space shortages.  As of APRIL 9, 2025 we are full for the 2025-26 school year in Grades 1, 3 and 4.

If we do not have space for your child they will be able to:

  • attend their overflow designated school (Nellie Carlson) or choose to enrol at a Level 1 school with space in planned classes (siblings may also enrol at the overflow designated school), and,
  • request to be placed on a callback list if spaces open up until the last school day before pre-enrolment begins next school year.

ENROLING AT AN OVERFLOW DESIGNATED SCHOOL OR OTHER DIVISION SCHOOL

We will help resident families who were not selected in the lottery process enrol at their overflow designated school, Nellie Carlson School. If families choose to go to another Edmonton public school, they will need to call or email their preferred school to see if there is space in planned classes.

Siblings will also be able to attend the overflow designated school, but if families choose to go to another Division school with space in planned classes, siblings are not guaranteed to attend.

REGISTRATION AFTER MARCH 19

Resident students who move into a Level 3 school’s attendance area for the 2025–26 school year after pre-enrolment closes on March 19 can be added to the bottom of the callback list. Students can attend their overflow designated school, another Edmonton Public school with space in planned classes, or remain at their current school.

TRANSPORTATION TO OVERFLOW DESIGNATED SCHOOLS

Yellow bus service to Nellie Carlson School will be available for eligible K–6 students. Bus fees will apply.

Students who require yellow bus service must apply before June 1, 2025. Important information and application forms can be found on the Applying for Yellow Bus Service page on epsb.ca.

Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is the preferred transportation method for junior high and high school students; however, if ETS is not available, eligible students attending their overflow designated school may be able to apply for yellow bus service.
